OUR NEW MINISTER
Reverend Roberta and her family at her service of induction as a URC minister.
We now have a new minister. Reverend Roberta Ritson became our minister in the summer.
Though she is new in the role of minister, Roberta has worshipped with us at Horsley for the past twelve years.
She serves not only Horsley Village Church but also the North Tyne URC churches in Bellingham and Wark.
2022
Once again the church door is open and we can meet together to worship.
We are still observing social distancing being aware that Covid still poses a threat to us all.
We are pleased to be able to welcome back preachers to lead our services. We appreciate their contribution and support.
2021
During this time we have explored different ways to meet and worship ranging from outdoor services in gardens to reflective walks through the village stopping to appreciate the views , listening to the history and geography of the sites and praising God for his provision.
We will open our doors soon when the all the congregation feel comfortable meeting inside again.
2020
A strange year so far with the onset of the pandemic. The church building may be closed but the people who are the church are still worshipping in different ways using technology, TV, radio and literature.
We have been following an overview of the Bible by streaming videos produced by the Bible Society and meeting together via Zoom to discuss the questions posed.
We have held a service outdoors. We will join together in the church when we deem it safe to do so. Meanwhile two faithful members wait patiently for that day outside in the church garden socially distanced of course.
2017
In September Reverend John Paul retired after thirteen years as minister of Horsley Village Church.
We have appreciated his ministry and will miss him, Church members, family and friends met to say thank you and wish him well for the future.
November 2015
Knitted poppies displayed on the church railings to commemorate Remembrance Day. Knitters from Horsley Village Church and beyond made individual crocheted or knitted squares and poppies which were then attached to the railings to make this effective and colourful reminder for November 11th.
